It is wonderful to see how Dunham took what she learned from the Caribbean and implemented it into her own style. Similarly to when we learned about other important choreographers, the second generation of modern dance gurus, taking what they learned from their teachers and implementing the parts that they liked to create their own techniques.
ReplyDeleteI think that Dunham is a great example of someone who really takes what she is influenced by into her own work. I feel like so many people try to oppose what they are taught or change it greatly in order to make it their own, but I feel like she simply did what she wanted with it without making the movement something it isn't.
